We are committed to spreading the Buddha's teachings through service, education, and cultural exchange. Through events, classes, and gatherings, we cultivate opportunities for growth and development as a community. Our goal is to nurture inner peace and awareness, offering stability in a world that often feels unstable.
By coming together, we foster a supportive space where individuals connect through shared values and goals based on the Buddha's teachings. The community aspect is essential, as it cultivates mutual support and accountability, encouraging each of us to grow in wisdom and compassion while contributing to the well-being of all beings.
The BLIA Hsi Lai Subchapter is dedicated to spreading the Buddha's teachings through service, education, and cultural exchange, promoting personal growth and the well-being of all. By joining, you connect with a global network of subchapters united by the mission of Humanistic Buddhism.
Our subchapter got together to run a food booth during the first weekend of Lunar New Year at the temple!
We gathered at a member's house in Santa Barbara where we bonded over great food and company, then went to Lotus Land and enjoy the greenery!
We celebrated Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Birthday with meditation, discussion, and sweet treats, honoring the Bodhisattva’s compassion. Community of Practice is our monthly gathering where we cultivate wisdom and mindfulness together—see you next month!
"Have questions about Buddhism or daily life? Our venerables are here to help you explore and find answers."
If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of Humanistic Buddhism, cultivate peace and compassion, and put these values into practice by serving others, we’d love for you to join our subchapter of BLIA. Together, we work to apply Buddhist teachings in everyday life, fostering a more harmonious world through community service, mindfulness, and shared growth.
