About the Event
Taking refuge in the Triple Gem is the first step in learning Buddhism, while upholding the Five Precepts is the foundation of practice. For each of us, this is not only a personal spiritual commitment, but also an important step in actualizing Humanistic Buddhism in daily life.
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Fo Guang Shan and the centennial of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, we come together under this auspicious cause to make a shared vow-a thousand taking refuge, a thousand receiving the precepts, forming wholesome affinities and basking in the Buddha’s light together.
Taking refuge means taking the Buddha as our teacher, the Dharma as our guide, and the Sangha as our companions. Receiving the precepts means practicing mindfulness in daily life, cultivating compassion, and developing wisdom.
We invite all Fo Guang members to participate and encourage your family and friends to join, so that together we may fulfill this rare and meaningful Dharma affinity.
